Why are Drop & Depository Safes Prevalent?

Depending on the use one may have for a safe, depository safes are important for fast deposits. With a front drop loader or rotary hopper, there’s no need for entering a combination or code for opening a door to make a deposit. For the uninitiated, some people speculate why their keypad only lasted for a couple years when they’re using it 5-10 times a day.  The front drop access prolongs the life of the dial or keypad and decreases the wear and tear of the locking mechanism.  Great for commercial use, retail companies, restaurants, convenience stores, and money handlers love depository safes specifically for this reason. Before buying a depository safe, one may also ask these questions:

What is the range of currency I want to keep in a B rated depository safe?

Any answer for someone professional in the safe business to provide you to this question would be an opinion due to the fact that there are multiple security measures you should contemplate other than simply owning a safe. Ideally, the more money you need to keep in the safe, the more aware you want to be of the security protecting the safe itself.  Such as, having a depository safe with a couple thousand dollars sitting under the register with a blanket over it compared to having it in a locked room with a security system installed.

On a daily basis, how often will I make deposits?

As mentioned before, not having to enter a combination or code to open a door just to put things inside a safe saves time and insures longer lasting locks from excess use. If you need to make a safe deposit daily, look no further. Quick and fast deposits save time and worry when it comes to preventing potential lurkers while handling money.

A recommendation:

Whereas most safe manufacturers design B rated safes to meet the minimum requirements, (at least ¼” thick steel body with a ½” steel door) they don’t have a variety of different models. Unless you want to find a company to fabricate a safe to your measurements (which can be quite expensive) Hollon Safe Company will most likely have the model that meets your size specifications due to their considerable selection with an additional option of a roller hopper depository or front loading door. For example, their most popular depository safe HDS-2014 stands above its competitor model Not too heavy, not too light, at 90 lbs. the HDS-2014 is fit for any ideal location and can easily be concealed if needed. With an option of a Sergeant & Greenleaf dial or S&G Spartan keypad this safe is designed to meet the most basic needs one may have for a safe in mind. With 4 bolt down holes, a well-grounded heavy duty safe is not to be taken lightly when it comes to security. Not that looks matter when you shouldn’t show off your safe nevertheless Hollon does have better looking depositories compared to their competitor models such as Gardall and Amsec.

Why It’s Vital to Protect Your Family Heirlooms

Heirloom Let’s face it; we live in an unpredictable world. If the 2006 financial crisis proved anything, it’s that we need to stay vigilant and make sure we have our ducks in a row or our entire lives, whether for better or for worse, can unravel in the blink of an eye – those bubbles will pop whether we like it or not, so it’s prudent to plan ahead, to make sure that the most important things in our lives are protected, as if outfitted in suits of armor and hazmat suits ready for anything that the unpredictable world can throw at them. What we’re referring to is your family heirlooms; they’re worth holding onto, no matter their financial value. For some of us, they’re the only connection we have to the past, the only thing that links us with the blood of our forefathers.

Think of your heirlooms as ships or airplanes that you can board whenever you want to visit the beautiful land of your family history or, as Liam Callanan puts it, “We all carry, inside us, people who came before us.” Here’s the thing: when it comes to ships or airplanes, people exert a lot of effort to protect these behemoths of travel, like storing them in airports or docking them at shipyards. Why not do the same for your treasured heirlooms? Dock your heirlooms and memories in impenetrable safes from Value Safes. Our safes will protect them from whatever elements and keep them hidden from burglars or other people who want to unravel your whole entire lives.

At Value Safes, we care about family, what it means, what it stands for; we care about your family, your history, the heirlooms that have been handed down over the years and now sit on your lap like presents on Christmas. The world might not care about the things that mean the most to you, but we do. Rest assured that we have your back.

Family HeirloomsAfter all, without those heirlooms, without an appreciation for the past, you are nothing or, as Michael Crichton puts it, “If you don’t know history, you don’t know anything. You are a leaf that doesn’t know it is part of a tree.” Isn’t that a sad way to live? To be as a leaf unaware that it is part of a tree, part of a forest, part of an entire ecosystem. You’re only getting so much out of life if you live that way and at Value Safes, we will make sure that your connections to the past is safe and secure, so you can concern yourself with making new connections with the world around you, with the future.

You know why we do what we do? Because we believe that it’s important to protect the finer things in our lives, because those finer things are often the only connection we have to something deeper, something meaningful, and that means a lot to us. It should mean a lot to you. We’ll leave you with one last quote, courtesy of Edward Sellner: “We inherit from our ancestors gifts so often taken for granted. Each of us contains within this inheritances of soul. We are links between the ages containing past and present expectations, sacred memories and future promise.” Isn’t that something you should be protecting? We think so.

A Real Life Example that Shows the Importance of Safes

Theives In the hit movie Fight Club, the film’s antagonist Tyler Durden says, “The things you own end up owning you. It’s only after we’ve lost everything that we’re free to do anything.” That is a certainly a nihilistic statement, but it makes sense; we place  a lot of value into the things that we own that they end up owning us. Is that really a bad thing though? Do we want to be truly free? We’re probably getting a little too philosophical here, but our main point is that we care about the things that we own; they are, to put it mildly, how we make our mark on this world. They are our fossil record, what we pass along to future generations, our heirlooms, what we worked so hard in this life to acquire, own, and hold onto?

If possessions are indeed frivolous, as Tyler Durden seems to be suggesting, why are people so shattered and heartbroken when they lose those items, either by burglary or debt? The answer is simple: possessions aren’t frivolous. Try telling that to this couple in Waikato, New Zealand, who recently had centuries of heirlooms stolen over the course of a night.

Maybe not centuries of heirlooms, but definitely a century of heirlooms were stolen from the home of Carol and Alan Way during daylight hours. In the Waikato Times, Phillipa Yalden writes, “Thieves went through very room, drunk juice from the fridge, and smashed down the locked Rimu door of the couple’s bedroom to swipe family jewelry and heirlooms dating back four generations. She [Carol] believes the thieves must have been in the house long enough to rummage through each room, loading items into bags and even hunting down a vintage bottle of homebrew brandy. A half-drunk carton of apple juice from the fridge was found strewn by the creek.”

SafesThe thieves picked the house clean, like a carrion bird picking apart the body of some dead animal. There was nothing left. Their entire history of emotions and family were swiped by burglars and the couple is in a state of shock, as if they lost a large chunk of themselves. Now they’re suffering from their loss, knowing something is beating inside their heart, a memory, an item, but when they try to grab it, there’s nothing there. In Carol’s words, “I am absolutely, even the cameo brooch I wore at my mother’s funeral is gone, everything has a memory to them.” That’s what we always say  Value Safes – everything has a memory to them. That’s why it’s ultra-important to make sure they are in a secure and safe location. Unfortunately, Carol and Alan did not have one of our safes. If they did, they would still have their treasured items.

Other items that were stolen include memorabilia from ‘Moody’s Milkbar’, a store that Carol’s father opened up in 1947, an old-fashioned tin with racing horses on the front, the etched Fob watch engraved with Carol’s great grandmother’s initials, a pendant from her great grandfather’s collection, a stack of Kathmandu jackets, and more. Literally, a treasure trove of important family items, things that can’t ever be replaced. The couple is working with local police and reaching out on social media to try to get to the bottom of this mess and hopefully get their family history back.

At Value Safes, we make sure that this kind of tragedy will never happen to you. Contact us today to learn more.

Protect Your Valuables With High-Security Safes

It always sounds cool when someone says they store things in a vault, doesn’t it? A vault has an air of high-class mystery to it. What’s in there? Jewels (a forever favorite of thieves)? Gold bars? Cash money? People will always wonder what’s locked up safe in a high security vault or safe, but they won’t know what’s inside unless they have the combination to open it up.

Value Safes sells high security safes for use in people’s homes and offices. In order to properly protect your belongings from theft or damage, you should consider investing in a high security safe which is built to do its job and do it well.

What makes high security safes a cut above the rest? Some of the features you can expect with these safes include electronic locks, fire resistant exteriors, and burglary resistant handles. They can also weigh 2,500 pounds or more, so they’re hard to move once they’re placed where you want them.

Take, for instance, the TRTL 30×6 safe. It’s built with a high density compressed concrete material encased within inner an.d outer magnesium steel hard plates. If that’s not enough to impress you, consider this: the concrete incorporates 26,000 PSI density and holds a matrix of nuggets and carbon fibers which further enhances its tensile strength. The reinforced armor plating protects the door frame and each individual bolt chamber from even the most sophisticated attack. TRTL 30×6 Safes are tested for 2 hours at 1750 degrees Fahrenheit.

TRTL stands for “Torch & TooL Resistant” on all 6 sides of the safe. This is a UL tested standard and is a very serious rating. Only consider purchasing one if your insurance company demands it. A multitude of relockers are designed and synchronized to engage if the safe is attacked. Meanwhile, dial or keypad non-manipulative locks are used.

For those who have expensive jewelry like diamond rings, bracelets and necklaces, worth thousands of dollars, Value Safe offers the TL-30 security Jewel Vault. Its composite body is 3” thick with a 6.5” thick door.

The Jewel Vault incorporates up to seven massive 2″ chromed locking bolts, secured with two The Jewel Vault high-security, U.L. listed Group II combination locks. Both locks are protected by a 1/4″ ball bearing anti-drill plate. Additionally, the mechanism is protected by dual plates of tempered glass, which will activate two randomly located relocking devices in the event of a safe attack. For ease of use, the safe incorporates an ingenious roller system, which reduces friction and lets the safe owner use the tri-spoke handle with incredible ease. In addition, each relocker is equipped with an internal captive cross lock, which secures the relocker bolt once it has fired.

Looking for high security safes to store your valuables? Value Safe has several to choose from, and they can be shipped to your home or office. If you own high-priced items and you don’t want anyone else messing with them, you need to keep them in a proper safe. Call 1-877-629-6214 to discuss your high security safe needs today.
